I'm so lucky that Musée d'Art moderne de la Ville de Paris is situated 2 minutes from my apartment and today I was so excited to go the exposition of famous American artist from the '80s - Jean-Michel Basquiat. His career in art began as a graffiti artist in New York City in the late 1970s, and in the 1980s produced Neo-expressionist painting.
A lot of his works reflect his affection to New York City but also native Haiti.
Basquiat's best friend was another great artist - Andy Warhol.
Basquiat died when he was ONLY 27, of a heroin overdose in his art studio on Great Jones Street in SoHo on August 12, 1988 just a year after the Warhol's death.
I was shocked with simplicity of some of his works but yet their posession of hidden profound meanings. These are some of my favorite pieces of art I've seen today at Basquiat's exposition.
